Beer and Blog Tokyo

It’s been a while since we gathered together for a Beer and Blog. Steve Nagata is now in Singapore. Kyle Hasegawa is a rising star at Google. Ken Brady is taking care of his cars —and cats!— in Portland.

So let’s take the opportunity that Paul Papadimitriou is in town all the way from London to meet for a few beers in our usual hangout.
UPDATE: Mona Nomura is also in Tokyo, all the way from New York, and will come to hang out with us too.

Since I’ve been traveling and am currently in the US, I’ve been unable to set up a Beer and Blog in Tokyo for some time. Sorry about that!

Steve Nagata, known to many of you in the Tokyo tech community, will be taking over for me and running Beer and Blog. He will combine the next Tokyo Beer and Blog with a tweetup and some visitors.

Finally time for August Tokyo Beer and Blog. It’s been more than a month, and many of us were out of town for July’s get together.

We’ll be meeting this time at The Pink Cow in Shibuya next Wednesday, August 19. Starting at 7pm until whenever.

The Pink Cow has Burritos and 500 yen margaritas that night in addition to their selection of beers, wines, mixed drinks and food. Come join us!

Matt Daly, US virtual worlds geek from Metaversatility and mixed-reality/video artist, will join us.

The BBC’s Digital Planet technology radio programme is in Tokyo this week recording material for a couple of upcoming episodes. This Friday 3rd July they’ll be holding a Tweetup for anyone with an interest in the Tokyo scene. Tokyo Beer and Blog would like you all to come and join us!

We’ll be at The Pink Cow in Shibuya this Friday starting at 7:00 pm until whenever they kick us out.

RSVP on our Facebook page if you can and tell others via Twitter at @tokyobeerblog. Tag for the BBC show is #digitalplanet.

I’ll be missing the event as I will be in Portland, Oregon. But that does mean I will attend the original Beer and Blog around the same time. Maybe we should video-Skype each other together if the timing works out? I’ll send Adam and Yuki in my place, so say hi to them. And say hello to Michelle Martin from the BBC.

So, show up at the The Pink Cow. If you don’t have dinner plans, you might want to contact The Pink Cow staff and let them know to reserve you a spot for their yummy buffet dinner (2,800 yen from 7 to 10!). As usual, they have nice assortment of micro-brews, wines, spirits and friendly staff.

Even shorter notice for this month’s Beer and Blog in Tokyo (though I did tweet about it a few days ago!).

If you’re not too tired due to the Geeks on a Plane events this week, come down and grab a beer with us and chat. It will probably be a small showing, given the short notice and the number of events so far this week, but that’s no excuse not to get together.

So, we’ll be at the Hobgoblin Shibuya, Thursday, June 11 from 7pm on.
